Stages is the best thing for our kids — teaching skills within the read and react. The only issues we have are lazy cuts, lazy fills, lazy banana cut. So just have to stay on top of the kids and make sure they do it right.

We run the in-bounds from the video first day of practice — video c — teaches the inbounds. Never an issue of getting it in. That allows for a late game special play — anything you have now — save it for then. or just run the same thing, but have the far side cut to the hoop.

Or won’t cut on a dribble at or doesn’t move on circle movement will destroy everything that is great about the offense. Honestly, you only need two scorers with this offense and a bunch of great defenders who buy in. Eventually they will become scorers. I’m done choosing great basketball players who are in it for themselves.

We use hook and look against zones. However we allow our players to choose who in the zone they want to post up. They pass, cut then choose any five defenders to post up and seal. If they choose ball side you automatically get a seal and a great drive. If it’s inside that will deny the chance of the zone player helping. A simple mind set shift. Rather than weak spots of the zone, teach your players to seal one post player. We also found dibble at, pin and skip to the person who cut through to the other side was always an open shot.

Many have asked me about this great warmup. We go about 1 minute or so per drill. Starting with pass and cut front cut. Then rear cut. Then dribble at. Then read line. Then dribble at laker cut. Captain yells out the change.

We treat it like a press break with pass cut fill. Sometime we will pass cut then seal the middle of the 3. Then pass and cut and that middle player cannot intercept. We found against any zone the sealing player was the key.

So much great advice and I agree completely. As I was reading I was reflecting on our last season and sure enough you hit the nail on the head about so many points. Thanks for reaffirming what we need to work on in our third year.

Run read and react from the get go with the rebounder basically at the “top” sending two players to the “wings” and two more to each “corner”. Outlet to wing, cut through middle and fill. If wing is covered they should read line to middle and that place gets filled by”corner”. Best press break ever. No new concepts to learn. We also use it to inbound as well. First day of practice video is an awesome resource for all this.

We do this
https://vimeo.com/88583503Basically all the three person drills but we begin with a modified version of 3 person weave to center two on one back. Instead we do three person press attack which is pass cut fill until center court then 2 on 1 back. This Adelphi warmup is awesome.
