    Hey coaches,
We’ve been doing various 3-player drills since the start of our HS season and have seen hungry, aggressive, scoring players because of it. But my players are bored with them and don’t go as hard as I’d like/they know they can go harder. Aside from getting them to ‘fall in love with the fundamentals’, anyone have insight to how to keep them fresh and fun?

You’re at the stage where you must make these same drills into a competitive game. This can be as simple as: Run the same drill for 30 seconds and when I blow my whistle, switch to 3 on 3 live competition. Keep a score. Go for 2 or 3 minutes. Give extra points if they score using the action you’ve been drilling. Just be as creative as possible and make everything into a competitive game.

This is the next thing I’d love to see from the R&R library: A collection of small-sided games that specifically teach the actions in a sequential way!

+1 on the sequential small-sided games as the next step.
