    Hi Rick,

Great resource for Read and React – just getting started with 10 year olds and they are picking it it up great. My question is around how to train at practice when there are 7-8 kids? Do you typically sit 2 out and sub in periodically? Let 2 of them play D? or Play 4 on 4 so they all get involved, I don’t like having 2-3 sitting on sidelines for any period of time as I only get them for a short period of time each week.

    Thanks
    Andrew

There are numerous videos detailing what your “extra” players can do while the other 5 work on a drill. Fusion, 1 on 1 defensive and offensive drills, finishing drills, etc. The only thing they cannot do is stand around and wait and do nothing. It would be great if you had a an assistant coach or parent to help.

One of the great things about Read & React is the ability to learn it and practice it 4on4. That’s what I would do in your situation. if you need to drill anything, make 2 groups of 4 for your drills or 4 groups of 2.

Thanks Coach Rick – I have since watched about another 400+ hours of other videos and can see how you used 6, 7 players etc – excellent work. I bought the full package – and one thing that was a little confusing is where to start, or what videos you had were newer ones – I could only really tell by the quality of your magnetic board – new one looks great by the way. Would be great if you had a bit of a timeline that indicated players ages/experience aswell, to help us new adopters of the R&R system know where to start – or what skills that ages group (as a guide) should be completing, and then have what systems/videos would be relevant.

    thanks again
