Hi Coaches. We are getting ready for our first game. I was curious if any of you use R&R actions to warm up before games? Do you use the full warm up time or split it with 10 minutes od R&R actions followed by 10 minutes of traditional warm ups? Love to hear what you all do and any personal favorites.

I use the situations that come up most in a game situation. Have 2 lines, 1 on each wing with the ball in 1 line. Have the players from the opposite wing fill to the point, receive the pass and take a jump shot and on the second time through drive to the goal. Do the same with the ball at the point and the cutting line in the corner. The pass would be received on the wing.

We do 3 player Drills for warmups – Basic closeout with a pass and cut from both sides of the court. ALso do fill rules.

We do 3 lines – top – wing and a line at baseline along the lane line with ball. We pass to top, follow pass to close out, pass to wing cut for lay up. Then we pass to top and close out to wing. Defender either goes over line or not. Wing reads defender. If over line wing cuts for lay up, if not over line pass to wing and cut for lay up. Then we pass to top and passer steps into midpost. Dribble at wing, cutter goes through, pass to post and relocate to corner for jumper. Do each one for 3 minutes from each side.

I’ll use pregames for pass and cut with layups and pull ups, laker cuts, circle movement and basic post slides, and then go unconventional and do some 4 on 4 defense deflection drill with starters starting on offense to get warmed up offensively and defensively with the movements we will be doing in the game.

    We do this

Basically all the three person drills but we begin with a modified version of 3 person weave to center two on one back. Instead we do three person press attack which is pass cut fill until center court then 2 on 1 back. This Adelphi warmup is awesome.

Many have asked me about this great warmup. We go about 1 minute or so per drill. Starting with pass and cut front cut. Then rear cut. Then dribble at. Then read line. Then dribble at laker cut. Captain yells out the change.

That was really nice. I have found this mid season and now need to implement and was wondering about better warmups. Thanks so much. Took me a while to figure out where everyone was going.

Love the Adelphi warm up. Will definitely use it this year.
