    Good afternoon Coaches,

I hope you are doing well. I need some advice to on how to install Read & React 2.0 to a team I am assisting this season.

A little background on our basketball program: we are a charter school in Fayetteville Arkansas that serves grades 7-12. We have had a basketball program for 11 years and have had some success. Last year, we did not have a field a team due to COVID-19 concerns.

This off-season, we had 31 players sign up for basketball and had a great turnout for summer workouts. Our team has players who have prior basketball experience, but their fundamentals are very raw and have little to no experience running R&R. We don’t have our own facilities so we have to outsource to find facilities to practice on. We will be fielding a Jr. High team for the first time in our program and hope to continue it in the following years.

My question to you is, how should we go about teaching the Read & React 2.0? After viewing the video, we are a bit overwhelmed (in a good way) on what to teach after watching the videos. We do plan on teaching Zone Attack and the Press Break concepts as well.

I look forward from hearing from your ideas and advice.

    Sincerely,

    Hector Cueva

Coach Hector: You reference viewing “the video”. I assume its the 2.0 video. There are other numerous videos which can guide you through introducing the offense. Examples include: First Day of Practice, Boot Camps 1-5, Practice Plans, and Youth Practice Plans (for younger teams). There is plenty on the site to chose from. Cut and paste what sounds good to you, and take it away.

If anyone went to the PGC clinic and attended the session with Coach Torbett teaching How to Teach Read & React 2.0 and has any notes, I would gladly accept any. You can reach me at [email protected], thanks!

Coach Ralph, the First Day of Practice video was just what I was looking for. We are starting practice in two weeks and I showed our Head Coach and he loved the idea of teaching the R&R 2.0 to our players that way. Thank you so much!
