• Fusion Length

Posted by jgarton21 on November 21, 2019 at 8:44 pm

I am new to Fusion and have three days to get my full team ready for the season as the football team doesn’t wrap up their season until this coming Tuesday and half of my team plays football as well.

My question is how long should we spend on each “lesson” in practice. For example, how much time should I spend on pass and cut or any other lesson for that matter?

    Thanks for any input.

Hey it’s totally in the feel of your kids. I’m personally still finding ways to tweak it in order to make sure my boss are precise.
Personally I don’t want to move on until the rehearsal becomes second nature, so I introduce Wild scrimmages and switch up what partners are doing.
For reference I am still on pass, cut, and back screen and I’ve had 3 practices. Still a challenge to get them to look to score first and then get to the other side of the floor.

So you might or have spent an entire 60 minutes on one topic?

I agree with Coach Wade. You have to judge this based on the skill levels of your players and how quickly they pick up things. Remember, you are getting ready for a game in 3 days, so you can’t overload them. Coach Wade said that he is mixing in Wild Scrimmages. You do that in order to test it and see if it’s “sticking”. If you think it is, then you can move on.

By the way, with only 3 days left before your first game, you might want to check out THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE.

      Thanks Rick.

One follow up question if you don’t mind. Once we have implemented the entire Fusion process, then what would you recommend?

        My lord!
You’ve already got it all in?!
        That’s fantastic.
Even before I get it all in I even try my quick hitters against the fusion.
Even then–training the D at a disadvantage for me is a huge benefit once you get into full fusion mode with dribbling/2 balls/etc.

Just a suggestion–training might seem redundant but I’d say it’s not going to hurt them to get more reps and more wild scrimmages. This is an offense that doesn’t look the same.

Heck no. I have my full team available on Wednesday to start implementing for our game on Monday. My goal is to get through layers 1-3 at a minimum and hopefully layers 1-4 in the three practices that I have.
