    Everyone on offense and defense is required to say what they are doing every time the ball moves or if they move (on offense) or if the player they are defending moves.

    Hey Coach – JV High school girls coach here – I pick 1 thing at practice a day to have them focus communicating (Yesterday it was ‘Shot’), If I don’t hear 1 defender yell it, she runs. They don’t like being singled out, so most pick up on it quickly. The other things is ‘catch them being good’ – make it a point to single out the player who is doing the thing you want them to do, and make a big deal of him in the middle of the drill. Tell the other kids ‘be like X’, and you’ll set the bar for how you want them talking. Happy coaching!
